Mickey Dade hates deskwork, but that's all he's been doing at Wyatt Hunt's private investigative service, The Hunt Club. His itch to be active is answered when a body is discovered It's Dominic Como, one of San Francisco's most high-profile activists - a charismatic man known as much for his expensive suits as his work on a half dozen nonprofit boards. One "person of interest" in the case is Como's business associate, Alicia Thorpe - young, gorgeous, and the sister of one of Mickey's friends.

As Mickey and Hunt are pulled into the case, they soon learn that the city's golden fundraiser was involved in some highly suspect deals. And the lovely Alicia knows more about this - and more about Como - than she's letting on.

Treasure Hunt is both a nail-biting thriller and a coming-of-age story, filled with Lescroart's trademark San Francisco flavors. Mickey Dade, its young protagonist, gradually learns the hard lessons Hunt knows only too well, as the world he thought he knew unravels around him.

Having read all of Mr. Lescroart's novel in order and this being the last until his latest novel is out, it is like seeing a favorite relative leave from vacation and going back home. It took me a while to read all the novels but they books are all excellent. This new character, Wyatt Hunt, may not be as interesting as Dismas Hardy and his group, but I have high hopes in Mr. Lescroart being able to bring out the highlights in Wyatt's personality and his group. I especially like the way Mr. Lescroart weaves his characters in an around each other, Wyatt Hunt working for Dismas Hardy's law firm and the mentioning of Dismas and his group in Wyatt's novels. Excellent writing as it keeps you familiar with the background of the novels and kinda makes you feel like you are comfortable and familiar with all the novels.

Treasure Hunt (Audible Audio Edition) John Lescroart Jeffrey Cummings Brilliance Audio Books Reviews

ok
good book
I wasn't going to read a book with Wyatt Hunt as main protagonist because I like Lescroart's other characters so much. Almost felt like disloyalty. Lescroart has a way of making any character about whom he writes - sympathetic, vulnerable, intelligent, street-smart and likeable. I especially like the fact that the person on trial or in trouble is almost always a "loose cannon". Treasure Hunt and Wyatt Hunt were a very, very pleasant surprise.
Fast moving and a good read for when there is bad weather and recovering from flu. Everything wraps up with Gina and Wyatt slamming theories for a new book Gina is writing. I do seem to remember that in earlier books Gina's last name was ROARKE. Is this so?
Lescroart is an excellent writer, especially with his Diz/Abe series, and his writing saves this book from being atrocious.

First off, the characters are not likable. It may be because Hunt and his office staff are not contemporaries. A lot of the time it seems like Hunt is a babysitter rather than the boss. If Lescroart wants to keep this series going, I think he needs associates more his own age, and he most definitely needs to add the wonderful characterization that we see in his Diz/Abe series.

I would have rated this book with three stars, but the ending was just not believable. There is no cop in the world - friend or not - who would have gone along with the scenario Hunt cooked up.

If you're a Lescroart fan, you should read this book. If you're new to Lescroart, please don't let this be your first Lescroart book. Instead, go read one of the Diz/Abe books and get hooked like the rest of us.
I have read all the John L Books in the series up to this one and call tell you its ok to skip this one and miss nothing of the series

Basically, the Hunt Club gets a case, they end up solving it (shocker) while the Police can't do anything and the good guys win. They introduce more of Mickey and Tamara and throw in a new character that might re-occur as a love interest

Nothing to do with Dismas or Glitzky or any of the other main Characters (Roake has a brief brief cameo)

If you get frustrated with the dumb things that Dismas does and gets away with (you know what I mean), this book will just anger you as the Hunt Club does EVERYTHING wrong, yet pulls it out in the end. Even the penultimate sleuthing scene is so weak you realize it could never have happened that way.

Overall, eh. If you really love John L, you will be fine with it but you can skip the book and not miss any of the main things. I do wish he would do more books where the defense loses (Dismas I am looking at you) yet still have entertaining legal stories with morals. Example I liked Law and Order and it was a good show but the good guys didnt win EVERY time with some shenanigan

My 2 cents
Having read and enjoyed "The Hunt Club," I was anxious to tackle the next installment in the series featuring investigator Wyatt Hunt. Having some familiarity with San Francisco, I welcomed a second series from Lescroart that offered the local flavor of the city. Perhaps, though, I had set my expectations too high for "Treasure Hunt" because in the end I was left hoping for more. It was a quick read but still not completely satisfying. The plot itself was not bad, although it seemed to drift in spots and stretched the bounds of believability in others. I still find myself struggling to get to know the characters. I will give this series a chance to evolve more fully but at this point I definitely prefer the Lescroart series with Hardy & Glitsky
